"What is the battery life" is one of our most commonly asked questions, the answer is not straight forward. Think of the trailer tracker as a mobile phone, how long do you expect your mobile phone to last on one full charge? This could be from a few hours when in constant use to many weeks when in standby mode, the same applies to the trailer tracker.

Typical battery life - guidlines

GPS/GSM battery life - we would typically expect 2 to 8 yrs of operation depending on usage characteristics and environmental conditions such as temperature extremes and GSM network coverage which affect battery perfomance;

Light tracking use - we consider "light usage" to be 1 position reading taken every 4 hours, with "light usage" we expect battery life of 4 to 8 yrs.

Heavy tracking use - we consider to be 1 position reading taken every 30 mins, with light usage we would expect a battery life of approximately 2 to 3yrs

Chase mode - If the trailer is stolen and you want to switch to chase mode, then expect the unit to last approximately 20 weeks sending out a SMS and GPS every 5 minutes on a fresh battery pack. Click on this link to learn more about trailer security

Battery life estimates are approximate and depend on many factors like storage temperature and GPS and GSM duty cycle time which are affected in turn by quality and strength of signal.
